A social media strategy that produces enquiries, not just posts

The short answer

A working social media strategy names one job for the account, three content pillars it will always be about, a production cadence you can sustain, and four reporting metrics: saves, shares, profile visits and enquiries. Follower count is a lagging indicator that can be bought.

Key takeaways

  • Pick the job before the platform — demand creation, trust, recruitment or discovery.
  • Three pillars. If a post fits none of them, it does not get made.
  • Batch production is the only sustainable answer to posting three to five times a week.
  • Report saves, shares, profile visits and enquiries. Not followers.

Most social media retainers in India are a posting service: twelve posts a month, a template, a caption with eleven hashtags. The account fills up and nothing happens.

Start with the job, not the platform

Social does different things for different businesses — demand creation for D2C, trust-building for clinics and real estate, credibility and recruitment for B2B, discovery for restaurants. Choosing the job makes every subsequent content decision obvious. Skipping it is why so many accounts post competently and achieve nothing.

Three content pillars

Three recurring themes the account is genuinely about. For a clinic: patient questions, procedure explainers, results. For a developer: locality guides, construction progress, honest pricing. If a post fits none of the three, it does not get made — which is the point of having them.

The cadence problem, and the only real answer

Three to five posts a week is what it takes to stay present. That is not sustainable as a weekly scramble, which is why accounts die in month four. Batch production — one shoot day producing three or four weeks of content — is the operational answer to what looks like a creative question.

What to report

Saves, shares, profile visits and enquiries. Follower count is a lagging indicator that can be purchased outright and therefore means nothing on its own. An account that gained two thousand followers and no enquiries has a problem the follower number is hiding.

Organic and paid belong in one team

Split across two suppliers they duplicate work and contradict each other. Together, organic becomes a free creative testing lab: post ten things, see which two earn saves and shares, then put budget behind those. You have pre-tested your ad creative at no media cost. The detail is on Social Media Management and Performance Marketing.

Platform-specific guidance lives in Instagram marketing in India and LinkedIn for B2B.

Questions people also ask

Three to five times a week on your primary platform is enough to stay present. Consistency and quality beat frequency, but four posts a month is genuinely too few to be remembered by an algorithm or a person.
